How to Get to Xbox Live on GTA IV

While missions are plentiful in "Grand Theft Auto IV," you may want to deviate from the norm and play with or against other people on Xbox Live. Unlike the previous versions of "Grand Theft Auto," the fourth installment provides a fully functional online multi-player mode. Unlike most games that have an option to connect to Xbox Live from the main menu, Nikko's cell phone is responsible for launching an online game. You must have Xbox Live Gold to play online.

     Sign in to your Xbox Live profile and launch "Grand Theft Auto IV." Load your game.

     Press "Up" on the direction pad and your cell phone will appear in the right corner of the screen.

     Press "Down" until "Multiplayer" is highlighted. Press "A." Choose your desired game mode. A "Loading" screen will appear and the game will automatically place you in an Xbox Live match.
