How to Create a Profile on COD Black Ops

Within the online realm of Xbox Live, your gamer profile provides other online players with a view of your gamer tag, clan information, ranking and stats. Each gamer tag is entitled to one profile, which is applied to all the games you play. As you interact with other online players within COD Black Ops, they're able to see your profile, add you as a friend and/or send you messages. When you begin your first online session, you'll be required to create a profile.

Instructions

  Press the round power button on the right front face of the console to turn on your Xbox 360, ensuring no disc is in the tray. Press the button left of the tray to check the disc tray.

  Press the right arrow on your controller to navigate to "profiles." Choose the type of profile you want to set up, offline or online. The online options will be "I am a member of Xbox Live" or "I want to join Xbox Live" -- choose the appropriate option.

  Enter your desired gamer tag, choose a new one if the system indicates the gamer tag is not available. Input your email address and a password using the virtual keyboard in combination with your controller. The keyboard will pop up automatically as your cursor enters each required field. Click the "ok" button to progress to the membership selection page.

  Scroll down the list of membership options, using your controller, and press "A" on your controller to select the desired level. Your options will be a one, three or 12 month subscription.

  Enter your contact address, choose a gamer picture and the Xbox Live gamer zone you want to play in. These settings will be prompted to you automatically as you finish each previous entry. Press the "A" button on your controller to complete the profile creation process. Press the button to the left of the disc tray on the face of the console and insert a game to begin your online gaming experience.
