How to Get Your Map on Bungie Favorites

To get your Halo 3 or Halo Reach map noticed, and to optimize its chances of being inducted into the Bungie Favorites list, you must take your time in creating something truly original or simply fun. This is relevant for either Halo 3 or Halo Reach on the Xbox 360, as they both have the same requirements for content chosen for the Bungie Favorites section--mainly being hard work and imagination with your created content. You must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription on your respective gamer tag.

Instructions

    • 1

Make your own map to get noticed. This requires originality and imagination, as people will not be interested in just another infection map. If you haven't created a map yet, start Halo 3/Reach and select the "Forge" section of the main menu. This will bring you to the Forge load-out screen, where you can select the preset maps you wish to place objects on. Be careful to choose the right map for your desired creation, as a huge, open-air map might be unsuitable for a 3 vs. 3 death match. Once you have chosen a map, press the "Start" button on your Xbox 360 controller to begin the countdown to loading your new map.

    • 2

Clear up the map's pre-placed objects by deleting them and start placing your own. Once you are happy with the map you have created, press the "Start" button and select "Save Map As... ," then give it a suitable name, remembering not to include any offensive language.

    • 3

Start inviting people you have recently played with, or host your own custom game by going into the "Custom Games" section of the main menu, remembering to set the playlist as appropriate to your map.

    • 4

Continue to play with many people on your map using these two methods for a couple of days, depending on how often you play, each time being careful to listen for feedback given by players on what could be changed in the map to make it better, or offering them to save it for themselves. The more people who play a map, and refer to it or save it, the more "hits" it gets, much like a website, and the more likelihood Bungie will take notice and choose the map for Bungie Favorites.

    • 5

Keep refining your map, releasing an updated map with a version number appended to the end to let people know what edition of the map it is and how many changes it has been through. The only way to get onto Bungie Favorites is to be noticed, and to do this your map must be better than other people's, whether it be wildly original or just fun, attracting as many people as possible to get attention from Bungie in turn.
