How to Activate XBox on a PC

Xbox LIVE is a paid subscription to an online gaming community. With Xbox Live, gamers can play games with other subscribers. Yearly subscriptions cost $59.99, as of December 2010, and you can purchase one either online or at retail stores. Once you purchase the subscription, you must create an Xbox Live account, which you can do from a computer with an Internet connection.

Instructions

  Go to the "Xbox Live" website. (See Resources)

  Select "Join Now" from the top right corner.

  Choose the desired account type. This includes free membership, Gold and Family Pack. The free account does not include playing games online or downloading movies through Netflix.

  Enter a valid email address into the space provided to receive all important data and promotions from Xbox.

  Enter the desired password and personal information. The personal information includes name and date of birth. Input the captcha letters and provide a security question and answer. When finished, click "I Accept."

  Select "1 Year," 1 Month" or "Redeem Code" from the membership page.

  Enter either credit or debit card information or the redeemable code, then click "Submit." The subscription is now activated and ready to use on the Xbox.
