How to Set & Get an XBox Live Without a Wireless Adapter

You can play games with friends, watch movies on Netflix, create avatars and download new games through the Xbox Live service on Xbox 360. If you want to connect to the Microsoft service wirelessly with earlier generation Xbox 360 consoles you must buy a wireless adapter. You can, however, set up a wired connection with Ethernet cables to save on this extra expense.

Things You'll Need

Three Ethernet cables
Modem
Router

Instructions

  Connect one Ethernet cable to the modem's Ethernet port and the uplink or WAN port on your router.

  Plug the second Ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports on your router and your computer's Ethernet port.

  Insert the third Ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports on your router and the Ethernet port on the back of your Xbox 360.

  Turn on your Xbox 360 and choose the option to connect to Xbox Live. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the registration.
