How do I View Expired Account Data on XBox Live?

The Xbox 360 home video game console features extensive online functionality through the Xbox Live service. Offering two tiers of membership, free silver and paid gold accounts, Xbox Live provides gamers with the ability to purchase content, stream videos and play games online using their console.

The feature requires a Windows Live ID email address in order to create an account, but users with Windows Live IDs created before November 19, 2008 may encounter an error message when trying to sign into an Xbox Live account if the email account has not been used for an extended period of time. In the event that a Windows Live ID has expired, a simple process can be completed on the Xbox 360 console to regain access to an Xbox Live account and allow account data to be viewed once again.

Instructions

  Press the Xbox guide button on the controller. Highlight "Connect to Xbox Live" and press the "A" button. Your console will display an error message stating "Your Windows Live ID is not valid. You need to associate a different Windows Live ID with this account. For more info visit www.xbox.com/fixid."

  Highlight "Change Windows Live ID" and press the "A" button. Select "Continue" when prompted and press "A" to proceed to the "Your Account" screen.

  Type the new Windows Live ID email address and password you wish to use for your account into the text entry field and press the "Start" button. Note that you can use the same Windows Live ID that expired by re-entering the email address and password, as long as someone else has not claimed the ID following its expiration. Press the "A" button to continue once the Windows Live ID address and password have been entered.

  Press "A" to confirm the account information for your Xbox Live profile. Press "A" again to confirm that you wish to make the changes to your Windows Live ID.

  Read the Xbox Live Terms of Use and Privacy Statement, highlight "Accept" and press the "A" button to complete your changes and allow you access to your Xbox Live account once again. Note that if you decline the terms, you will not be able to connect to Xbox Live.

  Press the Xbox guide button on the controller. Highlight "Account Management" from the "Settings" menu on the Xbox guide and press "A." You will now be able to view and edit your account data.
