Xbox Live Headset Instructions

One of the benefits to subscribing to the Xbox Live service is the ability to play games online and chat with teammates. However, in order to chat in real time you will need an Xbox Live headset. Most Xbox 360 consoles come bundled with at least one headset. However, if you bought your console secondhand, purchased a basic bundle, or need a headset for another player you can purchase single Xbox Live headsets from electronics shops like GameStop or BestBuy. Once you have brought your headset home, using it is simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your wired controller to the Xbox or fully charge your wireless controller. Because the headset draws power from the controller, it is important that the controllers be ready for use.

    • 2

Plug the small metal prong at the bottom of your headset into the small expansion port at the bottom of your Xbox controller (under the joystick and d-pad). Note, if you are using another accessory (such as a chatpad) you will need to disconnect it before plugging in the headset.

    • 3

Turn on the Xbox 360 and load up your favorite online-enabled game. You should see a small headset icon appear next to your gamertag indicating that you have a connected headset and are available to chat.
