How to Bypass a Wireless Adapter in XBox 360

The Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console is capable of connecting to the Internet wirelessly via the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter. However, the adapter may not seem too appealing to some consumers as it costs about $80. Luckily, you can bypass getting an Xbox adapter. You don't necessarily need it for your Xbox 360 to connect to a wireless signal. If you own a laptop that has wireless Internet, you can connect your console to the Internet using the laptop for your wireless connection.

Instructions

      Connect the Xbox 360 to the laptop by inserting an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet ports on both the Xbox 360 and the laptop.

      Right-click on the "Network" icon on your laptop.

      Open the "Network and Sharing Center" from the options menu.

      Left-click on the "Connect to a Network" option from the pop-up window.

      Highlight your home network from the list of available wireless signals.

      Head back to the "Network and Sharing Center" window and open "Manage Network Connections."

      Hold the "Shift" key and left-click "Local Area Connection" and "Wireless Network Connection" to highlight them both.

      Right-click either icon to bring up an options menu and select "Add Bridge." The system will identify the connection and enable you to connect the Xbox 360 to the Internet using the laptop as your wireless adapter.
