How to Hook Up XBox Live to a Laptop

Hook up your Xbox 360 to your laptop and connect to Xbox Live. Xbox Live allows you to connect to the Internet and play with and against other gamers across the globe. By connecting the Xbox to your laptop, you can access the Internet and use the Xbox Live feature. If you are running Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 on your home PC, connecting your laptop to the Xbox is a straightforward process.

      Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet jack on the back of your Xbox 360. Take the other end and plug it in to the Ethernet jack on your computer.

      Log on to your computer as the administrator. Click on the "Start" icon in the bottom left-hand corner of your computer. Then click on "Control Panel."

      Click on "Network and Internet" once you're inside the "Control Panel" and then click on "Network and Sharing Center." Click on "Manage network connections" located on the left-hand side of the window.

      Highlight both the "Local Area Connection" and the "Wireless Network Connection." Right-click on the highlighted area and select "Bridge Connections" in the drop-down menu. This should connect the Xbox to the laptop. For Windows XP users, click on "Network Connections," then on "Advanced" and then check the "Allow" box for other users to connect through your computer's Internet.

      Turn on your Xbox 360 and access Xbox Live.
