Windows Vista or Windows XP
Insert the Xbox Ethernet cable in the appropriate ethernet slot on your gaming console. Then insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet slot of your computer.
Navigate to "Start" on your computer. If you have Windows Vista, click on "Network," "Network and Sharing Center," then "Manage network connections." For Windows XP users, after clicking "Start", click on "Control Panel," "Network and Internet Connections," then "Network Connections."
Select the active Internet connection on your computer (such as "Wireless Network Connection") and the "Local Area Connection." Right click on either one of the two selected icons and click on "Bridge Connections."
Mac OS X
Insert the Xbox Ethernet cable in the appropriate Ethernet slot on your gaming console. Afterward, insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet slot of your Mac computer.
Navigate to "System Preferences" on your Mac computer, then click on the "Sharing" folder. Next, click and check-mark "Internet Sharing" ensuring that the "Share your connection from" has "Airport" selected" and that the "Ethernet" box is check-marked as well.
Click on "Start" to make "Internet Sharing" active. Click on "Show All" and then click on "Network."
Click on "Airport" then click on "Advanced." Afterwards, click on "TCP/IP" then take note of the numbers next to "Subnet Mask" and the "Router" IP address.
Start up your Xbox and navigate to "System Settings." Then select "Network Settings" and choose "Configure Network."
Select "IP Settings" then choose "Manual." Afterward, select "IP Address" and type in "192.168.2.2" as the IP Address.
Press "Start" on your controller to navigate back one menu, then select "Subnet Mask." Enter the numbers "255.255.255.0" or the numbers you found in Step 4 if it is different, then press "Start" to exit.
Select "Gateway" from the menu and type in your router's IP address you found in Step 4. Press "Start" on your controller when you are finished, then navigate to "Done" and press the "A" button.
Navigate to "DNS Settings" and select "Manual." Then enter your router's IP address you found in Step 4 for both the "Primary" and "Secondary DNS Server."
Navigate to "Done" and press the "A" button. Then press the "B" button to go back to "Network Settings."
Scroll down to "Test Xbox LIVE Connection" and press the "A" button. Select "Yes" then wait to confirm that you are connected to Xbox Live through your computer's connection.
