How to Use an AT&T Laptop Connect Card for Xbox Live

An AT&T wireless laptop card̵2;usually called an air card̵2;is a handy little gizmo that allows a laptop to connect to the Internet through AT&T's cell network rather than having to find a conveniently placed Wi-Fi spot somewhere. You can also use it to connect an Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, but because the Xbox does not have a place to plug in the AT&T wireless card, you need to take a few extra steps to do so.

Things You'll Need

AT&T wireless card
Laptop with free Ethernet port
Ethernet cable

Instructions

  Plug your wireless card into your laptop, then turn on the laptop and connect to the Internet.

  Plug your Ethernet cable into both the laptop and the Xbox 360.

  Open the Control Panel on the laptop and enter the "Network Connections" window by double-clicking on the appropriate icon.

  Select both the wireless AT&T connection and the Local Area Network connection in the window, then right-click either connection and select "Bridge Connections" from the drop-down menu.

  Turn on your Xbox 360. Your console will automatically detect the connection being supplied through the network bridge by your AT&T wireless card, and will use that connection to connect to Xbox Live.
