Instructions
Connect your Xbox 360 to the Internet. If connecting directly to your modem or router, plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the rear of your Xbox 360. The other end of the cable plugs into the modem or router. If connecting wirelessly, clip the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter to the rear of the console, plugging the adapter's USB cable into the Xbox 360's rear USB port.
Power on your Xbox 360 and your controller.
Press "Up" or "Down" on the controller so "My Xbox" is selected. Then press "Left" or "Right" to select "System Settings" and press the "A" button.
Highlight and press "A" to select "Network Settings." If using a wired connection, proceed to the next step. If using the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter, select "Configure Network." Then choose the "Basic Settings" tab and make sure you have "Wireless Mode" selected. Choose to "Scan for Networks" in order to find your home wireless connection. When it appears on the list, select it, enter your wireless network password, and click "Done" when finished. Press the "B" button to return to the menu to test the connection.
Highlight "Test Xbox LIVE Connection" and press the "A" button. If you connected successfully, you'll get the message "Xbox LIVE is up and running." You're now connected to Xbox LIVE.
Press "B" repeatedly until you return to the main menu.
Scroll to "My Xbox." You can create or sign into your Xbox LIVE account here. Your Xbox 360 will walk you through the sign-up process.
