How Do You Set Up Xbox Live Wireless?

Xbox is a popular game console developed by Microsoft. The console not only allows users to play single-player and multi-player games offline, but users can also sign up for an Xbox Live account and play online against people all over the world. To prevent your Xbox from hogging up your Internet modem, you can set up a wireless router and your Xbox will then be able to connect to the Internet using that router.

Things You'll Need

  • Wireless router already setup
  • Wireless Xbox game adapter (can be purchased from most major retailers)
  • Xbox Live account or subscription CD (can be purchased from most major retailers)

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off your Xbox.

    • 2

Plug in your wireless Xbox game adapter. Then, insert one end of the network cable (that came with the adapter) into your adapter, and the other end into Ethernet port on the back of your Xbox.

    • 3

Power on your television and Xbox. Your Xbox will automatically connect to the Internet if you are using a wireless setup that doesn't require a password. If you require a password, go to the next step.

    • 4

Use your Xbox remote control to select the "Systems" tab. Then select "Network Settings," and then "Edit Settings." Select the wireless settings the apply to your Internet setup on the "Basic" settings tab. Then press the "A" button.

    • 5

Select your wireless network from the list and press "A." Then on your "WEP Network" page, type your network password. Then press "Done." You can then select to "Text Your Xbox Live." It should be working properly now.

Insert your Xbox Live subscription CD into your Xbox (if you don't currently have an active Xbox Live account.) Then follow the prompts to create your Gamertag, enter in the subscription code on the CD package, enter in your name and address and credit card details. You will then have access to Xbox Live.
