How to Connect an Xbox to My Router

The Xbox is a popular gaming console created by Microsoft. One reason for its popularity is its multi-player online gaming capabilities. Players can connect to a Wi-Fi high-speed Internet connection and play games online. They can also download games and music files. The online feature is known as "Xbox Live." You need a wireless Internet connection to access Xbox Live. You may also need a router.

      Turn off your Xbox and computer. Unplug your router and modem. Make sure everything is off before connecting any cables.

      Connect one Ethernet cable to your modem and your router. The Ethernet jack looks like a larger version of a standard phone jack. Your modem should have one Ethernet jack, but your router should have several.

      Get a second Ethernet cable. Connect one end of it to your PC's Ethernet jack. Take the other end and connect it to your router. Get the third Ethernet cable. Connect one end of it to your Xbox 360, and the other end to your router.

      Turn on the modem, the router and then the PC. Check your Internet connection. If your PC cannot access the Internet, you need to check your router's settings. Refer to your router's manual for help. After successfully completing this step, your Xbox and your router will have a connection.
