Halo 3
Released in late 2007, Microsoft and Bungee's third installment of the popular Halo series is still a huge hit on Xbox Live. Halo 3 has a variety of multiplayer modes to choose from, including death match, team death match and capture the flag, as well as a four-player co-op mode over Xbox Live. The Forge map making system lets you create detailed and customizable game levels that you can share with friends over Xbox Live. According to Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Halo 3 was the most popular game on Xbox Live in 2009, which is two years after its initial release.
Project Gotham Racing 2
One of the most graphically advanced Xbox 360 games available, Project Gotham Racing 2 is a racing game for Xbox Live. Even in single player mode your track time is uploaded to the leader boards, putting you in competition with other players. In addition to single player and online multiplayer race modes, Project Gotham Racing 2 has a unique game mode called Cat and Mouse, where one racer (the cat) clears the course of obstacles so the other racer (the mouse) can get through in one piece. This mode gives the game a destruction derby feel, effectively turning it into a car combat game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most popular Xbox Live games currently available. Modern Warfare 2's predecessor, Call of Duty 4, set the standard for multiplayer military shooters, and Modern Warfare 2 raises the bar on all counts. With several game modes, guns and levels, the game is designed to keep you entertained for as long as you play it. The much loved Kill Streak reward system is back, which rewards you for successful air strikes, laptop guided missile attacks and unmanned aerial vehicle assaults. With a blend of new features and old favorites, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is easily one of the best Xbox Live games available for the 360.
