How to Delete XBox Live Download History

Xbox Live is an online gaming service that Xbox users must purchase a subscription for if they want to play online. Once they've subscribed to Xbox live, they sign up with a specific Gamertag. The service boasts a robust number of content for users to download and enjoy, including TV shows, movies, video games and more, which are all then attached to the Gamertag. These are purchased using Microsoft Points, which users acquire by attaching their Xbox Live account to debit or credit card accounts. The items that they download are kept in a permanent history. Users might wish to delete this history if they are selling the system or don't wish to have that record permanently stored on the system. Doing so is not difficult but does cost money.

     Boot up the Xbox 360, and from the dashboard, move to "System Settings" on the "My Xbox" tab. Hit "A."

     Move down to "Memory" and hit "A" again. Hit "Y" on the hard drive and chose to format it. This deletes all of the information on your hard drive, making it as though brand new. The Xbox Live and its account information can no longer be accessed on that system without a password, but the download information remains attached to the Gamertag. If you are not selling your system but merely wish to delete this history, a final step remains.

     Purchase a new Xbox Live membership either from a store or via the system's installed program. Sign up for a new account with a new Gamertag. This will have a clean download history.
