How to Configure Xbox for a DSL Connection

DSL, or Digital Subscriber Line, is a broadband Internet service that allows you to connect to the Internet via your phone line. If you have an Xbox or Xbox 360, you can use DSL Internet service to access Xbox Live and play games with millions of people online. Xbox Live does cost a subscription fee for certain features, but all Xbox 360 owners get a free version of Xbox Live just for owning the console.

Determine how you are going to connect your Xbox. If you have a wireless router or modem, grab the wireless adapter and plug it into the back of the Xbox into any of the USB ports. If you have chosen a wired connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the back of the Xbox and the other end goes into your router (or modem, if you do not have a router).

      Turn on your Xbox.

    • 3

Head all the way to the right of the "My Xbox" tab and choose "System Settings."
