If you own an Xbox and need to find the Media Access Control, or MAC, number in order to solve a connection problem, but have no idea of where to look, don't worry. The process of identifying your Xbox's MAC address isn't complicated.

      Turn on your Xbox video game console without a disk in the tray.

      Choose "Settings" from the bottom of the main menu screen, under the "Xbox Live" option. Wait for the "Settings" window to appear.

      Select "Network Settings" from the list of options in the new window. It will be located near the bottom of the window, under the "Video" option. Wait for the "Network Settings" window to appear.

      Locate the 12-digit alphanumeric number in the bottom right corner of the screen, in a small box near the "Network Settings" options. This is the Xbox MAC address.

      Close out of the "Network Settings" menu by clicking the "Back" button at the bottom left corner of the screen. If you choose, you can register the Xbox console by going to the game console registration page located in the "Settings" section. Input your MAC address to register your console with Microsoft.
