How to Connect to XBox Live With an Ethernet Cable

There are two ways to connect to Xbox Live. You can buy an Xbox Wireless adapter and connect to a wireless network, or you can plug into an ethernet connection. The second method is usually preferred among Xbox 360 owners. Fortunately, connecting to Xbox Live with an ethernet cable is a relatively simple affair.

  1. Making the Connection

    • 1

      Plug one end of your ethernet cable into your modem. If you are using a router, plug the cable into the router.

      Plug the other end of the cable into the back of your Xbox.

    • 3

      Turn on your Xbox.

    • 4

      Once your Xbox Dashboard comes up, sign in with a profile that has an active Xbox Live account.

    • 5

      The Xbox will automatically sign you in to Xbox Live.
