How to Get Free XBox Live Downloads

While Xbox Live is primarily a paid service through its Gold membership, you can also access many free features with a non-paid Silver membership. From movie trailers to game demos and previews, there are many free things to access by browsing through the Xbox Dashboard on your Microsoft Xbox 360 console.

  Go to the "Spotlight" section of the Xbox Dashboard after turning on the console.

  Scroll through the "Spotlight" section. This will display some of the major games, movies and more that are highlighted for the week. During one Christmas, Microsoft provided a free game that allowed you to throw snowballs at your Xbox Live friends.

  Move over to "Game Marketplace." This is where you will find a variety of sub-sections with plenty of free content, including game trailers, game demos, trial versions of Xbox Live Arcade games, themes and gamer pictures. Gold Xbox Live members can play a game based on the TV game show "1 vs. 100" for free with the chance to win prizes.

  Download the free content by clicking on the game and choosing the option for the free demo, trial or trailer, depending on the content you choose.

  Try the "Video Marketplace" if you have an interest in movies. You will often find trailers for new major releases in this section. Click on the movie to view the preview.
