How to Chat Using a Headset on Xbox 360 Live

A major component of playing games on Xbox Live is the use of teamwork. To properly work as a team and win games, communication is key. Most Xbox 360 games allow the use of wired or wireless headsets to communicate with teammates and enemies. To keep the headset working and use it without causing sound interference to teammates, proper care should be used.

  Insert the base of the wired headset into the base of the Xbox 360 controller. The base of the wired headset looks like a metal earphone plug protruding out of a plastic switch box, attached by a wire. Wireless headsets have a similar plug-in, but without an attached wire.

  Move the switch to the "on" position. The switch is located at the base and connected to the Xbox 360 controller. The switch on the base of the headset allows the user to mute his voice while playing games.

  Load a video game and access the multiplayer function. Most multiplayer games allow the user to directly speak to teammates and, after a round is complete, to her opponents.

  Speak into the microphone while in a multiplayer game and your teammates will hear it.
