Refrain From Engaging In Harassment Or Abuse
Xbox Live features voice chat facilities that enable players to communicate with each other during online matches, and any players that abuse this feature by harassing other players or whom engage in activities such as intimidation or bullying can be reported for violating the Code of Conduct. Players are not allowed to use any of the communication options that are available on Xbox Live, such as text messages, Kinect chat or even official forums to discriminate against other players or spam them.
Do Not Post Any Offensive Or Illegal Content
The Xbox live gamertag and profile enables players to express themselves and share some basic information, but players may not use these sections to post any content that can be considered offensive or illegal, which includes the use of profanities, hate speech or references to illegal activities. Players should also refrain from controversial topics related to religion, politics or organizations and people and are not allowed to attempt circumventing these rules by using any words or phrases that refer to forbidden topics. For example, players many not use asterisks instead of typing out swear words or intentionally use words that sound or look like forbidden phrases
Avoid Any Form Of Discrimination
Xbox Live enables gamers to play with others from all over the world. This includes players that are of a different race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability status -- players are not allowed to discriminate against any other players based on these factors or provoke others or cause a disruption to gaming sessions when they encounter groups or people that they do not want to play with based on their own beliefs.
Do Not Impersonate Others Or Cheat In Games
The Code of Conduct specifies that players are not allowed to impersonate anyone else when interacting with other players, and this includes employees of Microsoft, forum moderators or any employees of the game developers and publishers. Players are also not allowed to cheat or tamper with games in any way to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents. Any players whom discover glitches or vulnerabilities in online games must report these to the developers so that it can be addressed in a patch.
Do Not Engage In Fraud Or Piracy
The Xbox Live account of a player is for their own personal use only. Players are not allowed to sell their account, gain unlawful access to the accounts of others or use their account for business or advertising purposes -- this includes renting out an account for monetary gain or promoting any services on their profile. It is also prohibited to make unauthorized modifications to the Xbox 360 console in order to play pirated games or to offer to make these modifications for others in exchange for payment.
