How to Use a Computer Mic on Xbox Live

A microphone is an integral part of the Xbox Live experience. Not only does it enable you to join party chat and send voice messages, but also interact with your team on competitive games. While many headsets designed for Xbox include microphones, that isn't the case for every set on the market. Most PC microphones have a 3.5 mm connector, while the Xbox microphone has a 2.5 mm connector, so an adapter is required to make the connection.

     Plug the headset connector into the 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm adapter.

     Plug the other end of the adapter into your Xbox Live controller.

     Plug the USB end of the controller into your Xbox if the controller is wired. If the controller is wireless, turn on the Xbox and hold down the power button on the controller. The two will connect automatically.
