How to Get Microsoft Points From a Different Country to Work

Microsoft Points are the main currency used in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace to purchase downloadable content and online games. Microsoft Points can be purchased in two ways, the first of which is online, and these are immediately applied to your account. The second way is in the form of redeemable cards, which can be found in retail stores in most countries. Regardless of the country you bought your card in, the 25-digit redeem code on the card will always be in English alpha-numeric characters. Once you have a Microsoft Points card, you can redeem it on any Xbox LIVE account; the steps for doing so are the same regardless of its country of origin. Redeem your points by entering the code on the card into the Xbox LIVE Web site or Xbox 360 console.

  Visit Xbox.com and click the ̶0;Sign In̶1; link at the top right of the page to log in to your user account.

  Click on the ̶0;My Account̶1; link at the top right of the page once you are signed in, and then click on the ̶0;Redeem Code̶1; link in the ̶0;Payment & Billing̶1; section of the page.

  Tear the protective piece of cardboard off your Microsoft Points card to reveal the 25-digit code, and then type it into the text box in the page.

  Click on the ̶0;Redeem Code̶1; button to add the Microsoft Points on the card to your account.

  Turn on your Xbox console and sign in to your Xbox LIVE account.

  Press the center ̶0;Xbox̶1; button on your controller to open the Xbox Guide and then scroll all the way to the left to the ̶0;Marketplace̶1; section.

  Select the ̶0;Redeem Code̶1; option and tear the protective piece of cardboard off the card. Enter the code into the text box and click ̶0;Done̶1; and ̶0;Yes̶1; when prompted to add the points to your account.
