How to Talk to People on XBox Without Headphones

While the most used communication tool for the Xbox 360 console is a pair of headphones, you are still able to talk with people on Xbox Live through other means. If your console is equipped with Kinect, you can use its built-in microphone to speak with other members. If an alternative microphone is not available, you can use the Xbox messenger system for text communication with a standard game controller, chatpad or computer keyboard.

Instructions

Connect a keyboard to your console. Plug the USB cable into an available USB port on the Xbox 360. Alternatively, connect the Xbox 360 chatpad to your controller. Connect the male plug on the chatpad to the expansion port on the bottom of your controller. If you do not have these devices, you can use your Xbox 360 controller.
