A gamertag is how players identify themselves on Xbox Live. This is Xbox's version of gaming that charges a fee for users to play with other Xbox players online. These gamertags are names that are created by Xbox users. Each name is unique for each player. Naturally, the gamertags are horizontal when viewed on the Xbox Live screen. Therefore, you simply need to know how to make a gamertag. This is something that almost any player can do in just seconds. It can be done on an Xbox that is already connected to the Internet, and a TV or monitor.

  Create an MSN account. Point your browser to MSN website. A link to this site is provided in the Resources section. Click "Sign Up." Follow the on-screen instructions and fill in the necessary information to create the account. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide in the registration process to let you know that the account has been created.

  Point your browser the the Xbox Live website. A link to this site is provided in the Resources section.

  Click the button labeled "Register" on the Xbox Live website.

  Complete the registration process for creating an Xbox Live account. Type the gamertag name you would like in the corresponding box.

  Type your recently-created MSN email address in the corresponding text box on the registration screen.

  Click the button labeled "Next" and then the button labeled "Upgrade." The upgrade will allow you to play online or "Live" under the name you have chosen for your gamertag.

  Type your payment information in the registration screen. Enter your name, billing address, and credit or debit card information. A confirmation email will be sent your your MSN email address.

  Click the account validation link that will arrive through a Private Message (PM) in your Xbox account. This will finalize the creation and registration of your account and gamertag.
